And the Grammy Award for Album of the Year Goes to…

Since the Grammy’s began in 1959 there has been one album that has stood out from all of the rest and has been awarded the highest honor that an album can receive, the Album of the Year award.

When I was creating my bucket list I decided that it would be interesting to listen to all of the albums that won this award. Not only did I want to listen to them, but I wanted to listen to all of them in order to see how music has changed and how the standards for who wins this award changes.

The first thing that I noticed was how at the very beginning of the Grammys they were still figuring it all out. I say this because not only did a score for a movie win, but two comedy specials won as well. It was a little weird to hear comedy from the 1960’s, especially a comedy special bashing the Kennedy’s.

Honestly I think everyone should listen to these albums not only to see how music evolved, but to just find some new bangers. I knew one song on almost every album, but that is about it. I would have never listened to the Getz/Gilberto album if it wasn’t for this goal, and it turns out I love that album, it has the song “The Girl from Ipanema” on it. Plus almost every album, besides Taylor Swift’s albums, are found of Spotify so it is super easy to do!

Fun Facts about albums that have won Album of the Year:

  • The longest album was OutKast’s “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below” at 135 minutes
  • Bob Newhart has actually won with his comedy special “The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart”
  • The entire time I was listening to Judy Garland’s album “Judy at Carnegie Hall” I was so confused as to why she sounded just like Liza Minnelli, then I remembered Judy Garland is Liza Minnelli’s mom
  • Frank Sinatra was the first person to win three times, the only other person to do this has been Stevie Wonder
  • Taylor Swift was the first woman to win twice, the only other woman who has done this is Adele
  • Every single album is on Spotify except:
    • The First Family-Vaughn Meader
    • The Concert for Bangladesh- George Harrison and Friends
    • Fearless- Taylor Swift
    • 1989- Taylor Swift
    • You can find both “The First Family” and “The Concert for Bangladesh” on YouTube, good luck listening to Taylor Swift all the songs on YouTube are weirdly a pitch higher then normal

Periods Suck. Period.

Just so everyone knows this post will be about periods and period products (mainly about the diva cup) so it might get a little gross, but don’t say I didn’t warn ya.

Summer 2017 Bucket List

The summer of 2017 is the first summer since I started college where I will be at home. For the past two summers I have worked at Camp Arcadia, a little piece of heaven located in Northern Michigan. While I love camp with my whole heart I decided that this summer I should probably get an internship and make a little bit more money so I can afford my senior year of college. I have decided to take this opportunity to change my life. This is mostly because I only have two friends from high school and one will be in Israel all summer, so I will be bored out of my mind. Also I won’t have to pay for anything since I will be living at home.

Without further ado here is my summer 2017 bucket list:
